Weekly Classes
Slip Studio offers ceramic classes for students to build their skills in hand-building techniques. From beginner to more experienced artists, our students will learn and develop their skills from the ground up, mastering slab construction, coil building, and pinch pots.
Each week, we will develop new hand-building skills and explore a variety of surface decorating techniques.
Work at your own pace and bring your own creativity and inspiration. Your projects will carry over from week to week, as you learn about the different stages in pottery.
By the end of each session, you will walk away with several glazed and finished pieces, plus the experience of creating something out of clay with your hands.
Class Details:
- Classes meet once a week
- Small and intimate class size, 6 students max
- Guided projects plus time to explore your own ideas
- Full studio access, including slab roller, wall extruder, templates, slump/hump molds, and studio tools
- Stocked kitchen with snacks & drinks: hot teas, coffee, and sparkling waters
- Make-up missed classes during open studio time, Tuesday to Friday from 2pm – 5pm
- Included in your class fee: clay (brown and white stoneware), underglazes, colored slips, a variety of commercial glazes, and studio-made glazes.
- Pieces larger than 10″ will be charged firing fees of 8 cents per cubic inch for combined bisque and glaze firings

What’s Included
- All instruction, materials, tools and firing fees.
- Pieces larger than 10” wide will be charged member firing fees of 8 cents per cubic inch for combined firings.
- Pick up your bisque and glazed pieces off the “big red shelf” at the front door.
Booking & Payment
- Register for a complete session of weekly classes online.
- Our classes have a maximum of 6 students and book up quickly!
- If a class needs to be cancelled for any reason, you will be notified via email at least 12 hours prior to the start time.
- In the event of snow or severe weather, any cancellations or changes will be communicated via email/text as early as possible.
CLASS DETAILS
- Please arrive on time, ready to get your hands dirty.
- We have aprons and hand towels for you to use.
- Feel free to bring snacks or drinks into the studio.
- Store your own tools and apron in our “swim lockers” by the front door.
CANCELLATION POLICY & MISSED CLASSES
- Please note that all classes are 100% refundable up until 14 days prior to class session start date.
- Classes are non-refundable once the session begins.
- We understand that plans change, and are happy to accommodate class changes to dates/times when we can. Classes are transferrable to other students.
- Missed classes can be made up during another class time or during member open studio hours from 2-5pm on Tuesdays -Fridays (within that same enrolled session).
Studio Details
- Slip Studio is located on the main floor of a large commercial building called “the Switch 210”.
- DO NOT FOLLOW GPS which sends you to the back of the building!
- Go up the stairs of the main entrance. At the SWITCH lights, turn right and go to the end of the hallway, then turn left and continue walking to the back of the building. Suite #127 is tucked away on the right.
- Parking is free and plentiful, out front on County Center Road or the adjacent parking lot, in front of the roundabout /traffic circle.
