Studio Time

Slip Studio offers open studio time for enrolled students and members and drop-in studio time for guests. Studio time is free-play, access to the studio with NO instruction.  Come and make. Explore and create. Unplug and unwind.

Open studio time

Studio time is scheduled directly through the portal, you must be logged into your account to schedule your time. Open studio time is included in membership fees.  Weekly class students receive 2 free open studio sessions per term.  Additional open-studio time may be purchased at $40/session.

Reclaim clay is free of charge. Regular firing fees apply to all work made during open studio time.

A studio monitor will be on hand to help with questions and offer a little guidance; there is NO instruction during open studio hours.

Weekly open-studio times:

Occasional Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 12-2pm & 2-4pm & 4-6pm

Every Tues/Wed/Thurs 1-3pm & 3-5pm

Drop-in Studio time

Drop-in studio time is perfect for those who know how to work with clay and want a little play time without the commitment to a regular class. 

On Fridays and Saturdays, the studio is open to the public for hands-on making! 

Book your 2-hr open studio slot and receive 2lbs of reclaim clay to make anything you want! Use rolling pins, hump/slump molds, slips, and studio tools in creating your masterpiece (you will not have access to the slab roller or extruder).  

There will be a studio monitor on hand to answer questions and guide you, drop-in studio time has NO formal instruction.  Don’t forget to score and slip your work, being mindful of attachments- we want your piece to survive the kiln!  

We’ll fire and glaze your pieces in your choice of studio-made glazes.  Or, if you prefer to glaze your own piece, schedule an additional drop-in studio session for painting and glazing.

Drop-in studio sessions $50 per 2hr session

Additional firing fees depend on the size of the piece you make.

  • Fridays & Saturdays from 2-6pm
  • 2hrs of free-play studio time
  • Receive 2lbs of reclaim clay to make anything you want!
  • Use of studio tools, hump/slump molds, and materials are all included
  • Firing fees: 10 cents per cubic inch for combined bisque and glaze firings
  • Your pIeces will be fired & glazed for you in your choice of our food-safe studio-made glazes
  • Book an additional studio session to glaze your pieces yourself!
  • Pick-up your finished pieces 4-6 weeks later
  • Additional firing fees apply

Studio Time Terms & Conditions

Drop-in and open studio time includes studio access to materials and tools at Slip Studio.  Secure your time through the portal, complete your project and clean up your workspace in your allotted time slot. On arrival check-in with the studio monitor.  Once completing your project, pay for your firing fees through the portal and confirm your details with the monitor before leaving the studio.

Drop-in guests are not permitted to use the slab roller or wall extruder. 

Outside clay and glazes are not permitted inside the studio, unless otherwise specified.

All guests must abide by the terms of use and show respect for others & their work, including cleaning up after themselves and keeping a tidy workspace. 

We do our best to maintain a standard that ensures the best possible outcome for everyone. Slip Studio is not responsible for broken pieces or mishaps that may occur in the studio or in the firing process. Best practices for firing must be maintained by all members and guests.
