Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting & Sgraffito Pottery Workshop
A Culinary and Creative Collaboration with Agape Premium
What do you know about olive oil? It's good for us, yes! But what else do you know about extra virgin olive oil (evoo)?
Tamara, a certified OO sommelier from Agape Premium is going to walk us through important factors we should know when buying, tasting, and using extra virgin olive oil. We will taste and talk about olive varieties and terroir. We will also talk about cooking, usage, and storage for optimal health benefits. Come hungry to learn and eat! We'll make some dipping oils to taste and of course, wine and nibbles to share.
The second half of our workshop will focus on making your own garlic grating dish. We'll have leather-hard small plates for you to paint with slips and underglazes, using sgrafitto tools to make ridges and patterns. Don't worry, we'll show you how!
Thurs Feb 26th from 7-9pm
In this tasting and workshop:
- Learn about olive varieties, harvest, and processing of olive oil in Greece
- Taste a variety of olive oils
- Educate yourself on the health benefits of cooking with olive oil

- Share recipes, savory and sweet, using olive oil
- Decorate premade ceramic garlic grating dishes

PLEASE NOTE: There are NO guarantees in pottery!
While working in clay is calming, pottery comes with many unknowns. Pottery is unpredictable and sometimes unforgiving. While Ariella will do her best to walk you through each step of the process, sometimes cracks and issues present themselves along the way. Either in the soft and malleable stage, or as the piece dries and hardens, and even into the bisqueware stage, clay moves and shifts. Even the best potters cannot predict the outcome, so please keep this in mind! Working in clay is meditative and gratifying; however, it is also humbling, as there are many factors out of our control. This is the magic of ceramics- learning to let go and allowing for the process to guide you, and accepting that we are not always in control. This is the beauty of clay. So enjoy the workshop, class, or private event, and remember that the experience IS the best part of pottery! The final product is just the icing on the cake:).
